Nextcloud is a free and open-source software for creating and using file hosting services. It is ownCloud’s fork that allows you to run a personal cloud storage service and has productivity features. You can set it up so your files are always accessible via the internet, from wherever you are, and share them with your friends. However, Nextcloud can do so much more. 

What differs Nextcloud from other cloud services like Dropbox and GoogleDrive is that you’re able to self-host the Nextcloud cloud storage software on your servers. Alternatively, you can sign up with a Nextcloud provider that will handle some of the administration and maintenance of your private cloud for you.
