Uptrends
Uptrends is a website and web performance monitoring tool that seeks to provide complete cloud-based remote monitoring for websites, web apps, APIs, and servers to companies and team-based business customers. Uptrends is a dashboard-based way to report uptime, performance, faults, functionality, and user activity that requires no coding experience to deploy. Drag-and-drop “tiles” work like widgets to create custom reports that can be saved, exported to PDF or Excel, and sent rapidly through email to all stakeholders.
Uptrends enables proactive website performance testing based on 184 global checkpoints, as well as the detection of recurrent browser issues using snapshot screen captures. With Uptrends’ synthetic and real user monitoring approaches, multi-step web app transactions can be observed and click routes constructed using the transaction recorder tool.
Server monitoring is covered by DNS and SMTP/POP3 uptime snooping, which supports a wide range of industry-standard protocols, while API testing may be automated and calls confirmed using response data.Alert escalations can be configured to keep everyone informed in real time via phone, email, SMS messaging, and third-party integrations like Slack and PagerDuty. On-the-fly monitoring is also possible with the Uptrends 2.0 app for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
What Are the Features Inside UpTrends?
Uptrends Integrations
The Integrations features in Uptrends provides a means to receive alerts from Uptrends within an external application. Just like alerting by email and SMS, alerting by Integrations can be configured on an escalation level. You can use any of their predefined integrations, or build your own integration.

Monitoring Checkpoints Worldwide
You can pinpoint where your downtime originates with Uptrends’ global network of monitoring checkpoints. They provide private checkpoints, and this article will assist you in deciding which ones to use for your surveillance.
Why use a Private Checkpoint?
Checkpoints from your customers’ locations are used to test your websites, APIs, and online apps on a regular basis. But what about your users on the other side of the firewall? Private Checkpoints are responsible for this. Monitor the following with your Private Checkpoint:
- Intranet,
- Internal business applications,
- External applications your users depend on,
- Web services (APIs),
- Acceptance and other pre production environments,
- Infrastructure such as database servers, email servers, and SFTP servers.
How Does It Work?
Four virtual machines
Uptrends uses each of the four virtual machines as a distinct checkpoint to test your infrastructure. With four virtual computers, they can double-check for mistakes and ensure that at least two checkpoints are always available during maintenance periods.
Your hardware and their software
Uptrends manages the checkpoint software while you maintain the hardware and associated server software that supports your four virtual machines. Checkpoint software, virus protection, browser updates, and Windows updates are all maintained by Uptrends.
Uptrends manages the testing from the cloud
The central controller selects a virtual machine and sends the testing data across an encrypted, dedicated connection at your specified test interval. The test is run by the virtual computer, which then returns the findings. Uptrends will notify you if your Private Checkpoint goes inaccessible.
Securely isolated behind your firewall
The four virtual machines are shielded from the outside world by your firewall. Uptrends connects to the machines through a secure connection. You isolate the virtual machines by giving them access to only the portions of your infrastructure that you want to keep track of. It’s your checkpoint, therefore you get to choose which monitors use it.

Public Status Pages
Website downtime happens, no matter how much we wish it didn’t. Uptrends keeps your clients informed by updating them on the status of your service in one central spot known as a Public Status Page.
Open a dialogue
Keep your consumers informed about the situation to avoid an influx of support inquiries and questions. Transparency demonstrates that you care!
Share data
When a service failure happens, users want to know what’s going on, so offer them what they want with website availability charts, tables, and metrics.
Build trust
By publicly showing your service status, you demonstrate to current and potential consumers that you are serious about website uptime.
Custom Metrix
Track any numeric response data from your API
Although Uptrends’ Multi-step API Monitoring provides you with a plethora of performance information and data evaluation/verification on your API responses, you may want to track extra response data that Uptrends does not capture automatically. Our Business and Enterprise users can now record and track any numeric API return data using Custom Metrics. Data from your defined step variables can be tracked and reported using Custom Metrics.
In your API steps, you create a custom variable that you fill with data from the API response. In your API dashboards and reports, the value of the variable can then be assigned to a custom measure.
Concurrent Monitoring
Imagine being able to do five, 10, or even more checks from several locations at the same time instead of one every minute or five minutes. You can collect availability, performance, and function statistics for your websites, web apps, APIs, or servers from many checkpoints at the same time if you use multiple simultaneous checks. You obtain more detailed information, learn about problems faster, and detect partial outages sooner.
What Can You Expect from the Full Package of Uptrends?
Use Private and Global checkpoints together
You choose the checkpoints as you always have; you can utilize your Private Checkpoint, Uptrends’ worldwide network of checkpoints, or a combination of both (you may want to do this for testing SaaS apps your team relies on). It’s entirely up to you.
Same great alerting
Use the same alert definitions as your external monitoring, or make your own to handle notifications from your Private Checkpoint. SMS, email, phone/voice, push, webhooks, and integrations like Slack and PagerDuty are all options for alerting.
All the monitors and same great reports
Use the same availability, performance, and transaction monitors behind the firewall as you do outside. You can use the same pre-built or custom dashboards in your Uptrends accounts to see the data created on your Private Checkpoint.

PROS
- They check in on us on a regular basis to see how we’re doing. Flexible business solutions, good communicators
- They responded quickly, didn’t try to undercut our client, and were generous enough to prolong the price for a complete year. These days, finding great partners/vendors like this is difficult.
- The flexibility to monitor from numerous locations around the world is quite useful to me. The warnings are timely, allowing for a quick response to a problem.
CONS
- “3 months” was readily read as “4 more payments.” E., I cancelled in mid-June, and I’ll be charged at the end of June, July, August, and September.
- Even after the ridiculous 3-month period has passed, they continue to charge your card… *Another* charge arrives at the end of October.
- Auto-renewal by an unethical company occurs without notification or approval. Ignores lawful cancellation requests and threatens legal action if auto renewal is not paid.
Conclusion
Uptrends is a website and web performance monitoring tool that seeks to provide complete cloud-based remote monitoring for websites, web apps, APIs, and servers to companies and team-based business customers.
